Preliminary Assessment, succesful key points.

Successful key points:
I think that there were numerous successful moments within our preliminary task. For instance, one successful moment was when at the beginning of the preliminary task there was a close up of my hand pushing the door open. I thought that this was a successful moment because it was an effective camera shot, and it gave the audience an insight to what was about to happen. I thought that the continuity editing from this moment to walking through the door was very continuous and didn't pause at any moment. This makes the performance look natural and doesn't confuse the audience. A second what went well point is, that the whole preliminary task included numerous techniques from the different sections of media such as Cinematography and editing. One example of a technique that was used was Match on action; this was used in the clip when the timing was 0:04. Match on Action is when a character carries out an action and the first shot uses one type and then it has been edited so that the action and everything displayed looks seamless. A final what went well is that the technique of 180 degree rule has been used correctly throughout the whole performance; the camera has stayed on the 180 degree line, so that the audience can see me and Ellie from one angle throughout the whole recording, and this doesn't confuse the audience. Also the use of different shots has perfectly been used with the 180 degree rule; this technique has been used correctly and effective from start to end of the performance.

Improvements:
I think that there is a minor amount of improvements to be made on this whole performance. One ‘even better if’ example to give to the whole recording would be to include more shots in the whole performance. By this i mean because in media there are numerous camera shots used, that the person filming could of potentially included more camera shots to get the piece of work to a higher standard. For example, one shot that could have been used is perspective shot; this could have been used to give the audience an understanding of what was in front of the character when communicating with the other person. Furthermore, one more example of what could have been improved is the musicality used, a different music piece could have been used to link with the recording, when watching the preliminary task it makes the audience feel like they’re listening to the music instead of the dialogue that’s being said, and this could engage their attention to instead of what is actually happening. A last example of what could have been improved is the eye contact with the camera. An example of this is when me and Ellie look at the camera that is recording us, this makes the piece of work that has been produced unprofessional and doesn't communicate the meaning as perfect to the audience, it also makes the atmosphere of when watching the piece that the performers might feel nervous and anxious that their being recorded.

Attatching a new technique: Bubbl.us

Bubbl.us

My task was to create a mindmap on the following topic of 'What am I interested in?'.

By completing this task, I opened up the internet and typed in www.bubbl.us, and entering this website I could create a mindmap on what I am interested in.

How i did this task:

1) The first step there was a bubble that had already appeared on to the screen, and I typed inside the bubble 'what am I intrested in'.
 2) The next step was to open up a new branch, I did this by right clicking on to the bubble and a branch automatically appeared.
3) Then I typed in drama for example, as one of the bubbles to communicate to the audience what one of the subjects are that I take an interest to.
4)Then iIcarried on making new bubbles, by doing this I opened up new branches. I soon then began to learn how to change the color of the bubbles, I did this by hovering over the bubble and a small sized box will appear, and to change the color I selected the color icon.
 5) My mind map had been completed, so I started to change the font size of some of the text inside bubbles. This was done to engage the audience, but also highlight some of the bubbles compared to the other ones displayed on the mind map.
6)Lastly, I changed the color of the middle one to make sure this middle section stood out against all of the rest of the bubbles on the following mind map.

How to Screen Grab

Screen Grabbing in Media is a very simple process to complete, when wanting to take a snapshot of what is being displayed on the monitor or device that you are using. Above is an example of a screengrab that I personally created, this is an image of the homescreen of the Apple Mac that I was using within a Media AS lesson.

How to Screen Grab.
I 'screengrabbed' by doing the following simple stages:
1) Hold down the keys 'Command', 'Shift' and '4'.
2) Click on the mouse (left hand side) and drag across the selected area and release button.
3) Look in to screen captures folder and image will appear in the folder.
